Newmark Grubb Knight Frank (NGKF) is pleased to announce that Adam Marshall and Sergio Chapa, senior managing directors in the firm’s Chicago office, have both achieved the prestigious SIOR Industrial Specialist designation awarded by the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR).
SIOR is a Washington, DC-based international professional organization of more than 3,000 commercial real estate professionals, 2,800 of whom have earned the coveted SIOR designation. To achieve the SIOR designation, Marshall and Chapa completed at least five years of creditable experience in the highly specialized field of industrial real estate; met stringent education requirements; and demonstrated professional ability, competency, ethical conduct, and personal integrity. Individuals who hold the SIOR designation are top producers in the commercial real estate field and are represented in more than 630 cities in 34 countries around the world. SIOR enforces a strict code of ethics and requires designees to complete its ethics course within their first three years of membership.
“Adam and Sergio are both highly accomplished professionals with vast amounts of knowledge and experience in the industry. Their respective SIOR designations are well-deserved, and on behalf of myself and NGKF, we would like to congratulate them on this major career accomplishment,” said Geoffrey Kasselman, executive managing director, head of NGKF’s national industrial practice and SIOR’s president-elect. Kasselman was elected as SIOR vice president in 2014. He served one term as vice president and then rose to president-elect for one year. Kasselman will officially become SIOR global president this October for a one-year term.
Marshall has 13 years of experience in the real estate industry and specializes in the representation of industrial tenants, property owners and investors. He joined NGKF in 2014 as a managing director after serving as a vice president at NAI Hiffman. He began his commercial real estate career in 2003 as a marketing executive at Owen Wagener & Company. A leader in the industry, Marshall also sits on the executive board of directors for the Association of Industrial Real Estate Brokers (AIRE) and currently serves as its vice president.
With 12 years of industry experience, Chapa specializes in industrial real estate focusing in northern Illinois and southeastern Wisconsin. He is a licensed broker in the state of Illinois and Wisconsin. He is also a current member of the Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Chapa is one of the very few industrial brokers that is fluent in Spanish. An active member of his community, Chapa is a mentor to low-income, highly-motivated, community college students through the One Million Degrees program.
