Newmark announces that Manna Food Center (Manna) has signed two leases at 12301 Old Columbia Pike, Silver Spring, MD and 9311 Gaither Road, Gaithersburg, MD, totaling over 21,000 square feet. After major renovations in both buildings, Manna is celebrating ribbon-cutting ceremonies for both locations on October 19 and 20.
Manna’s new 9,000-square-foot headquarters is located in the eastern part of Montgomery County which offers excellent access and proximity to Manna’s clientele. In addition to corporate office space, a portion of the first floor of the building will serve as a pantry, which will allow for a dignified shopping experience for Manna’s customers as well as conference room and training space.
Manna also renewed its 12,095-square-foot lease at 9311 Gaither Road in Gaithersburg, MD. After a major renovation, the facility will now be used as collection and distribution space of both canned and perishable food. With greater efficiency and new, large refrigeration and freezer units, Manna is now positioned to better serve its mission to combat hunger in Montgomery County.
Executive Managing Directors Andy Klaff and Brian Liss of Newmark represented Manna in securing both leases.
“Newmark worked diligently to develop and execute a complex strategy so that we could move our headquarters as well as renovate our warehouse,” said Manna CEO Jackie DeCarlo. “In the face of a challenging market, the team was able to find an ideal location while assembling an incredible team to coordinate the relocation. Andy and Brian went out of their way to make sure that all our needs were met.”
“We are proud to have helped Manna with its lease renewal and expansion given the organization’s more-than-three-decade commitment to fighting hunger in Montgomery County through distribution, education and advocacy programming,” said Andy Klaff, executive managing director, Newmark. “We are ecstatic that Manna Food Center is in its new home and can better serve the community in Montgomery County for years to come.”
About Manna Food Center
Manna Food Center’s singular mission is to eliminate hunger in Montgomery County, Maryland. Through food distribution, education and advocacy, we are making strides on behalf of more than 63,000 county residents who experience hunger and food insecurity.
Since 1983, Manna has worked to fight hunger, feed hope and transition recipients from a place of scarcity to prosperity. The community was present at the creation of Manna coming together to make sure that those experiencing hunger had a place to turn.
Today, the impact of our work is clear. Manna stands as the premier food bank of Montgomery County, providing food to 32,000 individuals each year and helping distribute rescued food to soup kitchens, food pantries and emergency shelters county-wide. Nearly every social service organization in Montgomery County relies on Manna to provide food to their clients, and we are honored to play our part in the strong social safety net. Also operating as a food pantry, Manna directly reaches into the community through a network of distribution sites in every quadrant of the county.
