Newmark has announced the addition of Rob Black and Sean McNee as senior managing directors. McNee and Black are recognized as national investment sales leaders within the senior housing and care industry. Black brings 21 years of commercial real estate experience to Newmark and McNee is a 17-year commercial real estate veteran.
“There is no better time for Newmark to build upon its burgeoning healthcare practice. With the graying of America this niche has become, along with technology, a growth area in real estate. Rob and Sean have built strong reputations in this area and their expertise is a solid addition to the work of Todd Perman and Garth Hogan, who specialize in hospital and medical office buildings,” said James D. Kuhn, president, Newmark.
“Rob and Sean are true leaders in their area of expertise. I am excited to bring them to the Newmark platform to further expand their dominant national senior housing investment platform,” said Greg May, executive vice president, regional managing director.
Black comes to Newmark from Cushman & Wakefield where he worked exclusively in the senior housing and care industry. Black has been consistently recognized as a top producer throughout his career. While assisted living and memory care community sales have been his mainstay, Black also has deep knowledge and experience with the disposition of independent living communities, CCRCs, and skilled nursing facilities.
Black added, “We look forward to joining Newmark and using the San Diego office as the headquarters for our national practice. We appreciate the firm’s support and see this as the right time to grow our national senior housing business. We look forward to leveraging our wide-ranging institutional relationships in order to drive market activity.”
McNee has dedicated his entire career to the senior housing and care industry and offers experience on both the dispositions as well as the operations side of the industry. Cutting his teeth on one of the nation’s first dedicated senior housing brokerage teams, McNee has witnessed the ebbs and flows of the market and understands its nuances. McNee has been a leader at dedicated senior housing brokerage teams at Eastdill Secured, Grubb & Ellis, and most recently at Cushman & Wakefield. He has been involved with over $2 billion in senior housing transactions.
“We are quickly approaching a golden age for senior housing. The vast population of baby boomers are entering into retirement and that volume has made senior housing investment a lucrative opportunity now and for the future. This concentration of capital and unprecedented demand has resulted in communities that offer better accommodations and care than ever before. Additionally, management companies are leveraging technology to help with their efficiencies. This combination is helping improve the quality of and extend the lives of seniors today. The net result is a highly competitive lucrative product type that is based on resident needs as they age.” McNee shared.
