Newmark is pleased to announce that Michael P. Garlick has been appointed as market leader of its Phoenix office, with the promotion to executive managing director. Mr. Garlick will oversee the office and lead all brokerage operations and growth initiatives for the greater Phoenix area. Mr. Garlick replaces industry giant Pete Bolton, who left the company in May of 2017 to pursue new ventures.
Newmark veteran Mr. Garlick brings 24 years of commercial real estate expertise alongside his extensive knowledge of the Phoenix office market, established long-term industry relationships, and notable reputation for providing uncompromising client advocacy services. In his role as executive managing director, Mr. Garlick will focus on aligning the goals and objectives of local brokerage with Newmark’s overall strategic direction, working toward strengthening the brand while continuing to increase shareholder value. He will provide leadership of day-to-day operations for the Phoenix office as well as manage brokerage profitability, business line growth, development, strategic planning, recruiting and retention.
“Our goal was to find a candidate who will bring enthusiasm, drive and clear vision to the leadership position, furthering our growth momentum and initiatives. Michael Garlick is that individual; his vast skill set, determination and client service focus is exactly the right fit for Phoenix,” commented Regional Managing Director Greg May. “Michael’s highly regarded reputation throughout the Phoenix brokerage community and keen focus on client service delivery, dovetails perfectly with Newmark’s national initiatives to win business and recruit talent. Michael is optimally positioned to assume this new role, benefitting by his industry experience, Newmark’s depth of resources, and the unconditional support of a deep bench of regional talent.”
Mr. Garlick joined Newmark in 2014 to expand the Phoenix Office Landlord Advisory Services platform. His previous experience includes Lee & Associates Arizona from 1998 to 2014, where he rose to the rank of principal faster than any other associate in the history of the Phoenix office. He began his real estate career at CBRE in 1993.
“I am thrilled and honored with the opportunity to lead Newmark’s Phoenix operations,” said Mr. Garlick. “I have been most fortunate in my brokerage career and am excited to leverage my experience and relationships to build on our momentum and solidify Newmark as a dominant name in Arizona. I am proud to work with some of the region’s finest and most respected brokers and my foremost goal is to build on the successes we have accomplished collaboratively. Our recent announcements of adding industry veterans Tom Adelson, to amplify tenant representation services, and CJ Osbrink, to expand capital markets services, combined with our recent launch of the U.S. Southwest Valuation & Advisory Group, based in Phoenix, are just an example of how Newmark is aggressively expanding service delivery for our clients in Phoenix and throughout Arizona.”
During his 24-year career, Mr. Garlick has completed over 850 transactions totaling more than 10 million square feet valued in excess of $1.0 billion of total consideration. His clients include Brookfield Opportunity Real Estate Group, Carlson Real Estate Company, Duke Realty, Everwest, Great Point Investors, Greenwood & McKenzie, J.F. McKinney & Associates, Kemper, LNR Partners, Macerich, Orsett, Sun State Development, TA Realty and W.P. Carey.
