James is a Partner in our Planning and Development team. He advises a range of developers, landowners and institutional investors on planning and development matters.
His experience includes detailed knowledge of the complex Central London planning environment, on which he has advised leading mixed use commercial and residential developers, landlords and estates on town planning and development strategy.
James has particular experience in large scale central London mixed-use and commercial developments, especially those with complex political dimensions and heritage and conservation challenges. He advises Central London developers and landowners on strategic commercial, residential and mixed-use redevelopment and estate management. He also advises extensively on policy development in central London and has acted for Westminster Property Association and the London Property Alliance in discussing emerging planning policy and at examinations in public.

Recent projects
- Cundy Street Quarter, Grosvenor – advised Grosvenor on the preparation and submission of this large-scale application for the regeneration of a c. 2ha site in Pimlico / Belgravia, to provide new homes, community facilities and accommodation for older people.
- Emerging London Plan – advised Westminster Property Association and other clients on emerging local and strategic and national town planning policy, including preparing representations and appearing at Examinations in Public. Represented the London Property Alliance at the London Plan EIP.
- Peninsula London, 1-5 Grosvenor Place – advised Grosvenor and The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited on the development of a new Peninsula Hotel at 1-5 Grosvenor Place, close to Hyde Park Corner.
