Peter Whitenack is a Senior Managing Director with Newmark, specializing in both landlord and tenant representation.
Whitenack’s tenant representation work consists of uncovering opportunities and seeking high-profile sites for national and local tenants, including AYR, Club Monaco, Dylan’s Candy Bar, PNC Bank, Ralph Lauren, Under Armour and Union Square Hospitality Group, among others. He completed a 53,000-square-foot lease on behalf of Under Armour for its New York City Brand House in the former FAO Schwarz space at the GM Building, located at 767 Fifth Avenue. Other notable deals include Sixpoint Brewery’s 20,000-square-foot taproom, bar and production facility in Gowanus, Brooklyn, and his representation of Club Monaco in its 11,000-square-foot lease at 597 Fifth Avenue.
On the landlord side, Whitenack represents an equally impressive list of clients. His past and current ownership representation clients include Brookfield Property Partners, CIM Group, The Durst Organization, Kalimian Properties, Macklowe Properties and The Related Companies, to name a few. Whitenack is representing Macklowe Properties in the repositioning and leasing of 173,000 square feet of retail space at One Wall Street and has to date arranged leases with Whole Foods Market for 43,000 square feet and Life Time for 74,000 square feet. Whitenack and his colleagues won the 2018 REBNY award for Most Ingenious Retail Deal of the Year for the Life Time lease. Whitenack is also marketing approximately 50,000 square feet in Brookfield Properties’ Manhattan West, where ownership is developing a 7 million-square-foot mixed-use project that sits directly adjacent to the 1 million square feet of retail at Related’s Hudson Yards. Other notable transactions on behalf of ownership groups include representing The Durst Organization in its lease with Nordstrom Rack for 49,000 square feet at 855 Avenue of the Americas. He was also involved in Nordstrom’s purchase of Extell Development’s retail condominium at 225 West 57th Street.
Whitenack joined Newmark in 2019, after parent company Newmark Group, Inc., acquired RKF Holdings, LLC. As a Vice President with RKF, Whitenack not only served as a broker but also helped to develop and execute the firm’s canvassing program, which trained entry-level candidates in the skills and experiences needed to become successful retail real estate salespeople.
