Shams is a Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute and an Associate in the Planning team at Newmark. She advises private and public sector clients on mixed use, town centre, commercial, residential and industrial developments primarily in London and predominantly in the Borough of Westminster and the City of London.
Shams has over a decade of experience working in public sector, for a London-based housing developer and as a planning consultant. Shams’ expertise is in advising clients on planning strategy to unlock sites for development; seeking to influence planning policy through the local plan process; securing complex planning permissions and listed building consents; negotiating conditions and S106 agreements to secure the best outcomes for clients; and advising on optimisation of sites and assets. Shams has experience working on EIA development and GLA referrable schemes.
Shams organises Continued Professional Training within the Planning and Development team and is part of a firm wide committee, Flourish, on sustainability matters in the industry.
