Charles co-heads Newmark’s National Leisure team. Throughout his career, he has specialised in providing valuation and investment consultancy advice across the full spectrum of the leisure industry. Charles is also recognised as one of the foremost experts on business rates matters across the leisure sector, regularly leading national negotiations against the Valuation Office to support both industry bodies and his clients in mitigating rates liability.
Charles has particular experience dealing with large-scale individual businesses within the leisure and sporting sectors and a range of specialisms within the health and fitness, tourism and entertainment sectors. This includes advising on many of the best-known visitor attractions in the country, as well as various international sporting venues. Charles was elected a Fellow of the RICS in 2015.

- The London Eye – Charles advised Merlin Entertainments on the multi-interest rent review and regear of their occupational interest in the site occupied by this iconic visitor attraction.
- Longleat – Charles has been a trusted adviser to the Longleat Estate for many years, providing capital, rental valuation and development advice on both Longleat House and Safari Park, as well as their freehold interest in Center Parcs.
- International Convention Centre, Birmingham – Charles advised the NEC Group on the complex rating negotiations relating to the venue, which involved persuading the Valuation Office to change both the valuation methodology, and uncouple this from a previous agreement reached by another party, securing aggregate savings for our client in excess of £2.5 million.
