Alexander is a Partner in Newmark’s Planning and Development team. As an experienced Chartered Surveyor, he provides development consultancy advice, specialising in financial viability analysis, valuations, and bespoke appraisals as part of the development process for a wide range of developers, landowners, public sector bodies and occupiers.
His expertise lies in advising on financial viability and risk analysis, disposal, valuation, and planning matters including submission of viability assessments as part of planning applications and inquiries across all major property sectors. Alexander has a strong focus on complex strategic mixed-use redevelopment and regeneration projects. He is a Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) registered Valuer and carry out valuations of development sites for a range of purposes.
Alexander’s experience spans a wide range of development uses, including residential and commercial property. He sits on a cross-discipline group at Newmark which brings together experts in the wider serviced living sector to develop integrated strategies for our clients operating in the sector. Alexander is also part of the Newmark Analytics team undertaking performance analysis and property market forecasts and contribute to the firm’s quarterly investment brief publication.
He has managed several area-wide viability studies including local plan assessments for the City of London, LB Croydon, and Folkestone and Colchester Councils. He is actively involved in policy development and formulation, significantly contributing to discussion and debate with industry bodies and forums such as Business LDN and the Westminster Property Association. Alexander has also given evidence at examinations in public including for the new London Plan.
Alexander has a keen interest in the sustainability and functionality of existing commercial buildings and has provided advice relating to development feasibility (economic assessments), options analysis for retrofit and rebuild scenarios and financial viability in planning justifying loss of existing uses.
