Kelly J. Small, MAI joined Newmark Valuation & Advisory’s Washington, DC office in 2017 as an Executive Vice President and Multifamily Team Leader for the Mid-Atlantic. She brings to her position more than 30 years of appraisal experience and has performed valuations on a broad range of properties including office, residential, industrial, subdivisions, mixed-use properties, shopping centers, hotels, multifamily and special-purpose assets. Her expertise also extends to financial analysis, market research and real estate settlement work.
Prior to joining Newmark, Small served for nearly 14 years as a Senior Director with the Valuation & Advisory Multifamily Specialty Group at Cushman & Wakefield (C&W) of Washington, DC, Inc. She has focused on the Washington-area multifamily market since 2003. Following her initial C&W position of Senior Appraiser in 1995, she ascended through various roles, working from the New York office for a portion of her tenure.
Prior to C&W, Small worked as a staff appraiser with Legg Mason Realty Group in Baltimore, Maryland. She previously served as a Junior Appraiser for two years at Legg Mason/Wood Walker, where she began her real estate career in 1988 as a Research Assistant.

Small earned a Master of Science degree from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Baltimore. She also completed multiple Appraisal Institute courses toward receiving her MAI designation.
