Jim Clark is an Executive Managing Director of the Columbus, Ohio office of Newmark. Clark has headed the office since 2016, when Newmark acquired Continental Realty, formerly the leasing and property management divisions of Continental Real Estate Companies.
Clark has been in involved in Central Ohio’s office and industrial real estate markets dates since 1991. In his current role with Newmark, he focuses on procuring new business, including brokerage, and managing the office’s brokerage operations. Clark has significant experience in negotiating complex joint venture transactions as well as financing, incentives and infrastructure agreements. He has procured more than $25 million in public infrastructure and has negotiated more than 15 million square feet of leases during in his career. In addition, Clark has worked with most of the local municipalities in negotiating various incentives including CRAs, EZAs, TIFs and state grants.
Clark joined Newmark after nearly 20 years with Duke Realty, where he was the business unit head for the Columbus and Cleveland operations. His tenure at Duke was marked by the construction of more than 5 million square feet of new office developments and nearly 10 million square feet of industrial developments. In addition, Clark played a key role in the disposition of nearly $1.1 billion square feet of non-core office assets located primarily in the Midwest.
Over the course of his career, Clark has landed key office developments for such high-profile clients as Nationwide Insurance (400,000 SF), Discover Card (326,000 SF), BMW Financial Services (220,000 SF), Alliance Data Systems (200,000 SF), CenturyLink (156,000 SF) and Lane Bryant (120,000 SF).
Additionally, Clark has landed several significant industrial projects including Restoration Hardware (1.3 million SF), Mars Petcare (1.3 million SF), Kellogg (1.2 million SF), Kraft Foods (937,000 SF) and Bon Ton (750,000 SF). He also helped negotiate a public-private partnership to jointly develop 1,200 acres with the Columbus Regional Airport Authority.
Education
Clark is a licensed real estate broker in the state of Ohio. He holds a Master of Science degree in banking and finance from Boston University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in public relations from The Ohio State University.
