How “Green Lease Language” Can Help Tenants Comply with California’s SB 253 Law

Starting in 2026, all large companies that have operations in California will need to report the greenhouse gas emissions of their entire building footprint – or else face potentially large penalties. The regulation does not require landlords to provide utility data to their tenants and it can be difficult for tenants to measure greenhouse gas emissions without this information.
