Newmark announces the company has hired Dr. Wayne Gearey as Head of Geospatial and Econometric Analytics, further advancing the company’s commitment to delivering intelligent, data-driven strategies for its clients and advisors. Working on projects throughout the U.S., Gearey brings a rare combination of academic depth, applied expertise and industry credibility across the public and private sectors.
A globally recognized authority on modern location economics, Gearey has spent more than two decades helping occupiers harness geospatial and economic data to inform critical decisions, ranging from site selection and workforce planning to long-term location strategy. He most recently served as an executive at CoStar Group and Homes.com, where he helped design next-generation data platforms integrating real estate, demographic and 3D intelligence. He also previously held global roles at JLL following its acquisition of The Staubach Company.
“Wayne is one of the most authoritative voices in commercial real estate when it comes to articulating how geospatial and AI-driven tools can power smart decision-making,” said Elizabeth Hart, President of Leasing, North America. “He understands both the needs of the advisor and the language of the client, which makes him valuable in the office and in strategic planning. His leadership will bring together our analytics infrastructure in a way that empowers our teams to win.”
Gearey will collaborate closely with leaders across Newmark’s Occupier Solutions business, with a focus on developing a unified GIS platform to drive business development, enhance service delivery and further improve client outcomes. He will also work directly with Newmark brokers on market-leading pursuits, helping translate technical capabilities into a meaningful competitive advantage. He is part of Newmark’s Technology team and reports to Sridhar Potineni, Chief Information Officer.
“Wayne’s hiring further strengthens our ability to connect complex data systems with real-world client needs,” said Potineni. “His vision for scalable, AI-enabled geospatial analytics will be central to how we evolve our technology architecture to support the next generation of decision-making in commercial real estate.”
Gearey holds a Ph.D. in Geography with a focus on spatial econometrics and an MS in business process reengineering using geographic information systems. He has taught and mentored many of today’s industry practitioners and remains an active speaker and contributor on topics including real estate analytics, AI integration and economic geography.
“Across the industry, we’re seeing a growing recognition that real estate strategy is, at its core, location strategy,” said Gearey. “Newmark is building the kind of integrated, forward-looking analytics capability that brokers, clients and institutional investors need right now. I’m excited to be part of that effort and to help shape what comes next.”
