As Executive Managing Director, Stephen Cosby, MAI, AI-GRS, oversees Newmark Valuation & Advisory services for the acquisition, disposition and financing of investment grade real estate in the United States. Our clients include private investors, institutional investors, trusts, fiduciaries, development companies and government agencies, among others.
As Portfolio Services leader, he is responsible for overseeing portfolio valuation assignments throughout the United States. Cosby works closely with market and team leaders to coordinate fulfillment and execution with an eye to consistency and ensuring client needs are met. He is involved in management of all phases of portfolio assignments from initial assignment establishment and property due diligence to creating the report template, ensuring all assignment results are completed and communicated in the manner required by the client, and managing the review process. He also develops systems and materials that accelerate execution and provides clients with the products they need to complete their tasks in an efficient and accurate manner.
As Quality Assurance leader, he is responsible for ensuring the excellence of our appraisal services including the oversight of appraisal report templates and systems. Cosby has a central role in developing and promulgating our appraisal services platform to all of our appraisers and offices across the United States. He is also responsible for training and supporting the appraisal staff along with maintaining national level data sources and guidance.
Cosby has valued and consulted on real estate matters for over 40 years. From 2006 to 2017, he was an executive vice president and managing director for CBRE Valuation & Advisory Services, responsible for overseeing a portion of that company’s South-Central Region along with developing portions of the appraisal services platform. He joined Newmark in 2017 first as Senior Managing Director and Market Leader and now in his current role and position.

Education
Cosby earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree in finance from the University of Arkansas. He has also successfully completed numerous real estate courses and seminars sponsored by the Appraisal Institute and other providers as well as providing training and instruction.
