Michael Garcia, MAI, currently serves as an Executive Vice President in Newmark Valuation & Advisory’s New York headquarters and as the Multifamily Specialty Practice Co-Lead for the NYC Metro Area. Garcia, with over 20 years of appraisal experience focusing on housing in the five boroughs of New York City and Long Island. Expertise includes existing and proposed rental, condominium, and mixed-use developments, 80/20 and 70/30 developments, Mitchell-Lama developments, large- and small-scale conversions, branded residences, student housing, affordable housing (with low-income housing tax credits, submarket financing), development sites, air rights, Section 8 housing, co-living, and homeless shelters.
During his career Garcia has worked with a wide variety of clients including large money center banks, regional banks, institutional lenders, private equity and debt funds, life insurance companies, REITs, credit unions, agency lenders, and owners & developers.
Garcia came to Newmark after serving as an Executive Director at Cushman & Wakefield, Inc. for 20 years, where he co-led the New York Multifamily Team.

Garcia holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Evansville and a Master of Art degree from Teachers College, Columbia University.
