Joe Averbook serves as Senior Managing Director within the Multifamily Capital Markets Debt & Structured Finance group, specializing in FHA-insured loan programs for new construction, substantial rehabilitation, refinance and acquisition of both market-rate and affordable multifamily properties. Averbook is widely recognized as an expert in FHA financing, advising developers and owners on optimal debt structures and guiding clients through every stage of the FHA process—from initial underwriting through closing.
With more than 21 years of experience in investment real estate, Averbook began his career at Marcus & Millichap before spending 14 years at Greystone, where he played a key role in expanding the firm’s FHA lending platform. He later joined Newmark, bringing deep expertise in HUD multifamily programs including 221(d)(4), 223(f), 241(a), and 223(a)(7), as well as financing strategies tailored to LIHTC, workforce, and affordable housing assets. Throughout his career, Averbook has been involved in over $8 billion in transactions across the U.S.
