Bob Garner has consistently ranked among Newmark’s top performers since joining the San Mateo office in 1986. As a leader in the San Mateo County commercial market, he served as sales manager for 14 years in the San Mateo office, electing in 2011 to reduce his management duties in order to concentrate on brokerage. In January 2003, Bob became a partner and appointed executive vice president and board member of Newmark.
In his 36 years of working in the real estate industry, Bob has completed more than 1,300 lease and sales transactions and represented some of the Peninsula’s leading corporations.
Focusing on office and R&D leasing, Bob specializes in representing institutional property owners on the Mid-Peninsula. He has also represented tenants on the Peninsula including Sony, Citibank, Catholic Healthcare West, Guidewire Software, The Prudential and UBS.
Recently Bob completed more than 60 lease and sale transactions representing Guidewire Software, TA Associates, Tishman Speyer, Embarcadero Capital, Glenborough, Hudson Pacific, JP Morgan Global Real Estate and Stockbridge Capital. In 2021 and 2022, Bob has leased over 750,000 square feet and been involved with 250,000 square feet of building sales. The larger leases were with Roblox for 430,000 square feet, Zinga for 61,000 square feet and Meta for 73,000 square feet.
Bob has represented some of the speculative office projects on the Mid-Peninsula, including Shorebreeze I and II, Bayside Towers and Park Place at Bay Meadows. He is also marketing one of the largest Mid-Peninsula office projects, Bay Meadows Station. These successful Class A office projects are landmarks in San Mateo County.
Bob graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting.
