Newmark announces the company has strengthened its Retail Occupier Services capabilities by hiring Ben Wood, an accomplished retail project management executive with a track record of enabling growth for major national brands, as Senior Managing Director. Based in Chicago, Wood will lead strategy and delivery across the country, expanding the company’s capabilities and supporting national client initiatives.
Wood brings more than 20 years of experience in retail real estate, specializing in outsourced project management, multi-site rollout execution and owner’s representation. He joins Newmark from CBRE, where he led business development for the firm’s retail project management platform, supporting more than 150 professionals and partnering closely with sales and transaction teams to grow the business.
“Ben possesses innate talent in both strategic development and tactical execution, which make him uniquely equipped to lead Project Management for Retail Occupier Services,” said Michael Mason, Executive Vice President, Retail Occupier Services. “His deep background in construction and leadership offers our clients unparalleled expertise in creating and managing scalable project management solutions.”
Wood joins Newmark as retail occupiers face a complex operating environment marked by shifting consumer habits, interest rate volatility, labor constraints and geopolitical instability. Those factors are driving a renewed focus on operational efficiency and real estate optimization, with companies are increasingly turning to experienced advisors like Wood to help them rethink delivery models, reduce cost exposure and navigate evolving space needs with greater agility.
At Newmark, Wood will focus on structuring scalable, customized project management solutions for national retailers, helping clients accelerate growth and unlock operational efficiency. His experience spans nationwide expansion programs, high-value remodel strategies and billion-dollar mixed-use developments, serving Fortune 500 companies and institutional owners across the country.
“The Retail Occupier Services platform at Newmark strikes the perfect balance between the power of a global firm and the agility of a boutique consultancy,” said Wood. “This unique combination empowers us to deliver innovative, client-specific solutions at any scale to meet the complex demands of today’s retailers.”
