Rick Maletsky serves as General Counsel of the Newmark Operating Companies. In this capacity, he is responsible for oversight of the legal affairs of Newmark’s operating companies and advises the company’s executive management with respect to strategic and operational matters.
Mr. Maletsky joined Cantor Fitzgerald, Newmark’s parent company, in 2007. Mr. Maletsky provided general corporate representation to Cantor Fitzgerald and its affiliates across multiple business lines of the group’s highly diversified financial services companies. In his role as acquisitions counsel to the Cantor group, Mr. Maletsky worked to grow the group through acquisitions and joint venture investments, including BGC Partners, Inc.’s acquisition of Newmark in 2011, the assets of Grubb & Ellis in 2012 and various other companies that were added to the expanding Newmark platform. Mr. Maletsky took on his fully dedicated Newmark role in 2014.
Prior to joining Newmark’s parent company in 2007, Mr. Maletsky worked in the mergers and acquisitions group at the New York office of the law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.
Mr. Maletsky earned his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, from which he graduated cum laude. He graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Brandeis University, from which he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in politics and history.
