John Kubes, MAI, AI-GRS, joined Newmark Valuation & Advisory in 2019 and serves as a senior vice president in the firm’s Minneapolis office. Mr. Kubes has more than 20 years of appraisal experience. He has provided appraisal and consulting services for a wide range of property types, including banks, convenience stores, gas stations, manufacturing facilities, medical clinics, mixed-use, multi-family, office buildings, recreation facilities, restaurants, retail, shopping centers and vacant land. Mr. Kubes’ clients have included attorneys, corporations, city and state agencies, developers, life insurance companies and property owners, among others.
Prior to Newmark, Mr. Kubes worked for nearly four years as chief appraiser for MidWestOne Bank. He previously served for nearly three years as valuation services director in the Minneapolis office of Colliers International Valuation & Advisory Services. Earlier in his career, he served as a review appraiser in the Minneapolis offices of Central Bank, from 2011 to 2012; and as an appraiser at Mardell Partners, from 2004 to 2011; Bettendorf Rohrer Knoche Wall, from 2002 to 2004; Integra Realty Resources, Inc., from 2000 to 2002; and Herman Appraisal Services, Inc., from 1997 to 2000.
In addition to his work as an appraiser, Mr. Kubes has served as the condemnation commissioner for Ramsey County, Minnesota, since 2016. The following year, he retired as a chief master sergeant with the 133rd Logistics Readiness Squadron, a unit of the Minnesota Air National Guard, after 25 years of service.

Mr. Kubes earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Dakota. More recently, he has completed the continuing education requirements of the Appraisal Institute.
