Al Williams is an executive managing director, new business development, at Excess Space Retail Services, Inc., a Newmark company. Founded in 1992, Excess Space is the first national company to focus its business model around disposition, lease restructuring and lease renewal services for retailers nationwide. Mr. Williams is a 20-year veteran at Excess Space and a recognized thought expert in the field of disposition and lease restructuring. Primarily focusing on marketing, branding and new business development on behalf of the company, he has played an integral role in making Excess Space one of the most recognizable brands in the shopping center industry. Mr. Williams has also played a key role in building the process and procedures for the lease restructuring and disposition business models that are widely considered the most sophisticated in the retail industry. Moreover, the implementation of these programs on behalf of over 160 retailers has generated over $4 billion in savings.
Mr. Williams is actively involved in the development of the next generation of real estate professionals by speaking on panels and teaching classes for the National Retail Tenants Organization. Similarly, Mr. Williams is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), where he attends over a dozen conferences a year and participates on various panels.
