Veteran tenant representation and advisory specialist John Boland joins the Washington, DC office of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank as vice chairman, the latest of 12 significant hires in the past six months in the firm’s Mid-Atlantic region. The DC native brings 30 years of expertise in strategic consulting, negotiating complex leases and managing build-to-suit projects to his new role.
Throughout his career, Boland has arranged more than $2 billion in commercial real estate transactions locally, nationally and internationally, for both tenants (public and private corporations, law and accounting firms, and entrepreneurial and privately held firms) and property owners (institutional, REITs, investor, family-owned and controlled assets).
“John is one of the few true tenant representation heavy hitters in the metro DC area,” said Brendan Owen, chairman of asset services for the Washington, DC region. “His professionalism and personality will be a vital addition to our office.”
Boland has served as a chief advisor and negotiated transactions for some of the northeast’s most distinguished companies including the American Association of University Women, Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights and the American Beverage Association. His dual background as a real estate attorney and broker allows him to assist tenants in their search for office space and in the complex lease negotiation stage.
Boland is a graduate of Georgetown University, where he earned a law degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration/marketing. He is currently a member of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick. Boland joins NGKF from Cushman & Wakefield where he was named among the top brokers in the Washington DC area.
