Newmark is pleased to announce that Terry Alexa will bring his more than 38 years of real estate experience to the retail team in Chicago as Senior Managing Director. Mr. Alexa will be responsible for serving existing high profile clients and developing new business.

Alexa previously was a partner at Mercury Realty Group in Wheaton, Ill., where he was actively involved in all angles of the retail real estate market. He helped retail developers secure tenants in projects in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin, and assisted tenants with finding the ideal location, negotiating lease terms, reviewing lease documents and estimating project improvement costs.
Before then, Alexa served for 28 years as Vice President of Leasing at Tri-Land Properties Inc., which is located in Westchester, Ill., where he leased retail space to many national and regional retailers such as Dominick’s, Lowe’s Home Improvements, Famous Footwear, T.J. Maxx, Staples, Old Time Pottery, Office Max, Talbot’s, Big Lots, Portillo’s, Harris Bank, Kaplan College and Burlington Coat. He helped to develop and redevelop retail properties across 10 states from the Midwest to the Northeast into the South. Additionally, Alexa managed six leasing representatives and oversaw their lease negotiations.
Alexa started his real estate career as a regional real estate manager of National Supermarket in Chicago and later moved to take the same position at Frank’s Nursery & Crafts Inc. in Oak Brook, Ill. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a Bachelor of Science degree.
