Newmark Grubb Knight Frank (NGKF) is pleased to announce that distinguished commercial real estate professional Mike Gerard will join the firm as executive vice president, regional managing director. With more than 30 years of industry experience, he will join NGKF’s Chicago office and oversee regional operations for the firm’s offices in Chicago, Ohio (Cincinnati, Columbus and Cleveland), Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh and Philadelphia) and Detroit, Michigan. Mr. Gerard will lead the region and focus on managing brokerage profitability, growth, development, strategic planning, recruiting and retention.

Prior to joining NGKF, Mr. Gerard was global president, valuation & advisory services for CBRE Group, Inc., where he oversaw the global integration and growth of the firm’s valuation and advisory services business line. He spent the past eleven years with CBRE, holding many leadership positions including president of the U.S. central division where he provided executive oversight for 29 offices in nine states. Prior to that role, he served as chief learning officer where he was responsible for the firm’s learning and development programs. At CBRE, he was also a member of the company’s global operating committee since 2014. Prior to joining CBRE in 2005, Mr. Gerard also spent seven years as executive managing director with Grubb & Ellis. Throughout his esteemed career, Mr. Gerard has become well-versed in all aspects of commercial real estate, and serving as an advisor to the leaders of major corporations and institutional owners.

Mr. Gerard has earned many notable achievements throughout his career, which include being named a top executive by Detroiter magazine and Crain’s Detroit Business. He is active in numerous professional and charitable endeavors. He is a member (and local past President) of SIOR (Society of Industrial and Office Realtors) and is a CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member). Mr. Gerard is also a member of the board of the properties committee for Cranbrook Educational Community. He earned his Bachelor’s degree and Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Michigan State University.
