David A. Falk, president of the New York Tri-State region of Newmark, and Ronen Katz, vice president of Angelo, Gordon & Co., will be honored by the Hebrew Academy for Special Children (HASC) on Thursday, October 7, 2010, at the Academy’s seventh annual Real Estate Dinner, to be held at the Puck Building, 295 Lafayette Street, in Manhattan. Falk will receive the school’s Humanitarian Award, and Katz will receive the Young Business Leadership Award.
The HASC Programs were established in 1963 to provide educational and clinical services to developmentally delayed individuals from infancy through adulthood. HASC is a non-profit, non-sectarian agency that provides a wide range of supportive services to children with special needs, with special emphasis on integrating families into the process. HASC currently serves about 1,100 children from six locations in the metropolitan area.
“The Academy combines a progressive vision with traditional leadership,” Falk explains. “The programs are highly structured and individualized, and address the whole student. Classic, proven techniques are the standard, but the Academy doesn’t shy away from innovative methods. The programs emphasize speech and language development, motor development, and behavioral difficulties, as well as more advanced skills and knowledge.”
David Falk joined Newmark as a senior managing director in 1996. In January of 2000, he was named executive managing director and a partner in the firm. In April of 2009, he was selected president New York tri-state region. His business is centered on both tenant and landlord representation in the acquisition and disposition of office space.
Among other honors and awards, Falk has been awarded membership to the 2008-2009 Class of David Rockefeller Fellows. He is also a recipient of the CoStar Power Broker Award, six years in a row, from 2004-2009. Additionally, he was honored with REBNY’s 2007 Most Creative Retail Deal of the Year Award. He graduated from New York University in 1982 and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing.
Ronen Katz recently received an award from the Creativity Foundation for his ongoing commitment to public service. Angelo, Gordon & Co. is a privately held registered investment advisor dedicated to alternative investing. The firm was founded in 1988 and currently manages approximately $23 billion.
