For 35 years, Greg Leisch has measured every peak and trough, blip and bubble, and boom and bust in the United States, sharing his innumerable findings and wisdom with the commercial real estate market. Now the Delta Associates founder is putting industry speculation to rest, confirming his decision to join Newmark Grubb Knight Frank’s Washington, D.C. office with his business partner of 13 years, Alexander “Sandy” Paul.
Mr. Leisch - who is well-known for his annual TrendLines forecast conferences, in which he delves into the state of the U.S. economy and commercial real estate with extensive data, graphs, and his dry sense of humor-has been named Senior Managing Director of Research. Mr. Paul joins as Managing Director of National Market Research.
“We’re thrilled that Greg and Sandy have chosen NGKF as they enter this new phase of their careers,” said Brendan Owen, chairman of Asset Services in NGKF’s D.C. office. “Greg is one of the most respected and in-demand analysts in the D.C. region, and we look forward to having him join our growing team. With Sandy, we have a world-class research team to strengthen not only our research platform locally, but nationally.”
After growing Delta Associates into a national enterprise, Mr. Leisch recognized the compelling opportunity at NGKF. “For the past few years, I’ve watched NGKF’s growth around the U.S. and have been impressed,” said Mr. Leisch, who will officially join the firm with Mr. Paul in March. “With that growth comes this intriguing opportunity to expand the firm’s research platform with Sandy, which will serve NGKF’s diverse client base, and a market hungry for the best data and analysis it can get.”
Before his tenure with Delta - which was acquired by Transwestern as its research arm in 1995-Mr. Leisch spent a decade at Gladstone Associates, working under the late Robert Gladstone to create and manage the firm’s valuation practice, run the company’s computer center, and supervise its professional personnel. He received his B.A. and M.S. degrees from the University of Wisconsin and is a designated Counselor of Real Estate and member of Lambda Alpha. He is also an active member of The National Council of Real Estate Investment Fiduciaries and The American Society of Real Estate Counselors, and an associate member of The Real Estate Roundtable.
During his 13 years at Delta Associates, Mr. Paul served in several key roles, including Executive Vice President and National Research Director. He reported on and analyzed regional economic conditions and commercial real estate markets from coast to coast, authored white papers on market trends, and delivered presentations at TrendLines conferences and other significant industry events. He received his B.A. from Dartmouth College and his Master of Public Policy from Duke University. He is also a designated Counselor of Real Estate.
As it expands its regional offices, NGKF has hired over two dozen professionals in the D.C. Metro area; among them are Vice Chairmen Joe Donato, Maury Zanoff and Patrick Marr, and Executive Managing Directors Edwin M. Clark, III, Stephen L. Hoffeditz, Sally Wilson and Junius Tillery.
Nationally, NGKF parent company BGC Partners, Inc. (Nasdaq: BGCP) recently acquired full-service multifamily brokerage firm Apartment Realty Advisors (ARA) to drive NGKF’s growth in the multihousing capital markets space.
